Tazert Light: An Association Serving Women

The Adoua Tazert Glaoua (Light of Tazert) association, created in 2001 by Malika and her brother, supports the development of the Berber village of Tazert, located 60 km east of Marrakech, at the foot of the Great Atlas. It works in particular to support women, 90% of whom are illiterate, by offering them economic opportunities through artisanal embroidery .

Since its foundation, the association has set up an embroidery workshop which today brings together 240 women. There they learn and perpetuate the traditional techniques of Moroccan needle embroidery, creating finely hand-embroidered household linen : tablecloths, placemats, napkins, sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, etc. Thanks to the sale of these creations, the embroiderers receive an income, essential for improving their daily lives, that of their families and their condition in general .

The association also develops essential projects for the village such as literacy and access to education for women, vocational training (embroidery, carpentry), improvement of infrastructure: construction of classrooms, access to drinking water, sanitation .

By purchasing Tazert's B(r)odraps Lumière embroidered linen pieces, you are directly supporting these women by providing them with paid work, while contributing to the preservation of ancestral know-how .
